Thanks again to David Friedman for sharing such an important fundamental:

SHARE INFORMATION. With appropriate respect for confidentiality, share information freely. Learn to ask yourself, “Who else needs to know this?” Information is one of our greatest assets. Find it, share it, and use it.

I am probably as guilty as anyone, but information is something that must be available for all that need it.

Charles J: These are great words to live by and I believe one of the key elements to keeping people engaged and building cohesive teams.

When team members are well informed they stay engaged (connected) in working toward whatever the plan of the day, week, quarter, or year might be.

On a daily basis as I process information whether by phone, email, etc., I in turn, always try to keep my zone and regional teammates as up to date as possible by passing along pertinent information. I believe this is critical to problem solving as well. Arm your team with information and work together to solicit the best possible outcome. Some may call it “Managing by Committee”. Whatever a person wants to call it, I believe it is paramount to keeping teams energized toward a common goal. I must applaud my Central Region team mates and my Regional team mates as they in turn do a great job in executing the same types of principals.

I am constantly receiving information from them pertaining to a host of areas: Dealers, WD’s, FCSD covering a wide range of topics. I love the constant receiving of information as well. Simply put, the more information we have, the better the decision we can make…..

My challenge to all. Take a few minutes and think about information flow with your customers, fellow team members, managers, etc. I believe there is room for improvement by everyone.

My commitment to you is that I too, will try and do a better job of communicating with team members and management alike.

John H: I agree completely and will take your challenge of looking at the flow of information from, to and around me, team members and our customers.

Kevin P: I believe you nailed it. I think everyone has been in a team selling situation, and when you share information, everyone seams to get on same page.  Cohesiveness is a great word.

Sam C: Just another reason why you’re the Gold Standard. As a side note I honestly feel this is one of the main reasons we are as successful we are. I especially want to call out all of the PSM’s throughout the country that not only share info between their own zones but throughout all 3 Regions and with their facing FCSD, CAT and Powertrain partners. You guys and gals are the backbone for everything we do. This also reminds me of a story that I ones read in a pretty popular book about not hiding your talents under a bushel.

Reading responses like those above are quite humbling to me. It is encouraging that we have individuals with this much depth to them. A special thanks to our team for their participation. We believe it is a privilege to learn something new each day. For more information, contact OCP here.
